Pattea Tea Collective

Trinidad, Colorado

Tea that knows
where it’s from.

Whole-leaf tea sourced from gardens Patrick can name, blended by hand in southern Colorado. No flavoring, no filler, no mystery about what’s in the bag.

    Why

Most tea arrives with no name on it.

It gets picked in one country, sorted in another, blended by a machine that has never tasted anything, and lands on a shelf described as “breakfast.” Nobody is lying. Nobody is telling you much either.

Pattea works the other way around. Every tea here can name the garden it came from and the season it was picked. If this year’s lot tastes different than last year’s, we say so on the label, because it does.

    The blends

Four blends, every leaf with an address.

Whole leaf, 2 oz kraft bags with a window.
Ships flat rate anywhere in the US.

    How it’s chosen

Found, blended, bagged. One pair of hands.

    01

    The search

Patrick buys from people, not brokers. Every lot traces back to a garden with a name and someone who answers an email. Samples get cupped side by side, and most of them lose. When nothing wins, the shelf stays empty until something does.

    02

    The bench

Blending happens on a scale, one batch at a time, written into a notebook you are welcome to look at. Ratios shift when a harvest shifts. Holding a recipe fixed year to year would mean lying about what is actually in the bag.

    03

    The bag

Kraft with a window, so you see the leaf before you buy it. Weighed, filled, and dated the same week it was blended. The date is the day it was packed, not the day it expires. Tea does not expire. It just gets less interesting.

    The blender

Patrick collects tea the way other people collect records.

He does not grow it. He finds it. Years of tasting, arguing with importers, and turning down lots that were fine but not interesting, until he knew which garden in Uji, which slope in Wuyi, which family in Assam. Then he brings the leaf home to Trinidad and puts it together.

“If I can’t tell you the garden, I won’t sell you the tea.”

Everything under this name is chosen, blended, and packed by him, one batch at a time, in Trinidad. Nothing here came off a wholesale list because it was cheap. When you order, he’s the one who reads it.
